Starcraft Announces $2 Million Tecstar Contract Award; Tecstar Capacity Growing in Texas and Canada
GOSHEN, Ind.--Oct. 14, 2002--Starcraft Corporation announced today that Tecstar, LLC, its tier 1 OEM automotive manufacturing joint venture, was awarded a $2 million contract by General Motors to produce ZRX upfit packages for GMC Sonoma midsize pickup trucks. Tecstar will support this program from its existing production facility in Shreveport, La., where it also provides upfit packages for Chevrolet S-10 "Xtreme" pickups.Starcraft also said that Tecstar has completed its move to expanded facilities in Grand Prairie, Texas. In July 2002, Tecstar announced it would double its production capacity in Texas to a total of 192,000 square feet. The expansion accommodates growth in demand for upfit packages for Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe sport-utility vehicles.
In addition, the company indicated that Tecstar is on track to begin production from its new facilities in Oshawa, Ontario, before the end of the year. Tecstar will provide upfit enhancements for Chevrolet Silverado pickup trucks from this facility. The upfit enhancements include exterior graphics, custom wheels, special ground effects and other styling features.
