Chevy Donates $666,600 to the Foundation For The Carolinas
Proceeds Are From Monte Carlo SS Dale Earnhardt Signature Edition

Charlotte, N.C.  --  Representatives of Chevrolet and Team Monte Carlo today
presented a check in the amount of $666,600 to the Foundation For The
Carolinas as a donation from the sale of the limited edition 2002 Monte
Carlo SS Dale Earnhardt Signature Edition.
Accepting the check of behalf of the Foundation and the Earnhardt Family
Fund it manages was Teresa Earnhardt, wife of the late seven-time NASCAR
Winston Cup champion who died in February 2001 while competing in the
Daytona 500.  Also on hand for the ceremony were Bart Landess, representing
the Foundation For The Carolinas, and Richard Childress, owner of Richard
Childress Racing (RCR) and of the #3 Goodwrench Monte Carlo made famous by
Dale Earnhardt.
"We're pleased to be able to make this sizeable contribution to commemorate
the inspiration and legend of Dale Earnhardt," said Jim Campbell, marketing
director for Monte Carlo and Chevy Racing.  "When we first approached him
with the idea for this special edition, he took it as an honor.  And with
the approval of Teresa, the Earnhardt family and Richard Childress, the idea
later became reality.  Through this donation we at Chevrolet hope to honor
Dale and support the fund he established to help improve the quality of life
for many individuals and families."
The entire production run of 3,333 units was marketed through select
Chevrolet dealers with high-volume Monte Carlo sales in the United States
and Canada.  When introduced, the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price
(MSRP) of the Dale Earnhardt Signature Edition was $29,500, including
destination charge.
"The Dale Earnhardt Signature Edition Monte Carlos continue to satisfy
public demand to relate to Dale," said Teresa Earnhardt.  "Chevrolet's
continued relationship with the Earnhardt name perpetuates Dale's
inspiration to benefit many in need.  This vehicle and future products will
continue to show the quality and integrity of the Chevrolet brand and its
people."
 The purpose of the Foundation For The Carolinas is to advance philanthropy
by serving charitable, cultural, religious, civic, moral and educational
purposes.  It has over $250 million in assets, has made grants totaling
nearly $200 million and manages more than 1,400 charitable funds.
 Dale Earnhardt established a fund with the Foundation For The Carolinas in
1997 through which he offered support to his favorite charities.
Contributions from his friends and fans to the Earnhardt Family Fund are
intended to benefit those charities recommended by the Earnhardt family.
