Open-To-The-Public Test Drives To Begin On October 17


Irwindale, Calif. - - Legends Cars, the largest single class of competition cars in the hundred year-plus history of racing, have a new, on-site, right-at-the-racetrack distributor now on premises at Irwindale Speedway.  

Legends and Parts Sales of Southern California ("LAPS"), a subsidiary of the very successful NASCAR-style Performance Race Training Center, is now open for business.  

Over 4,000 Legends Cars are now "in circulation" around the world of racing making them far and away the largest class of one-make racing cars of any kind in existence.  There are over 500 Bandoleros*, and more than 100 Thunder Roadsters** "on the road" as this is written.  And, with the full support of Irwindale Speedway and Performance Race Training Center now behind the Legends car movement, those number are expected to increase exponentially in the SoCal area very quickly.

"We'll have the full line of racing cars along with factory-fresh parts, bodies, accessories, all the latest service information, and repair facilities,"  said Joe Oddo, the country's newest Legends dealer, whose sales and race support franchise area ranges from Bakersfield to the Mexican border.  

"We don't think that we've even scratched the surface on these real racing cars that have such realistic prices, many people who have always wanted to race at Irwindale are going to be able to do just that on a very reasonable budget."  said Oddo.  "I got in one myself the other day and took it out for a few laps and they are just plain FUN to drive … Plenty fast, very responsive, they're just a mad ball to whip around the racetrack!" 

To prove his point about how much fun Legends are to drive, Oddo is staging the first of what are sure to become regular monthly events at Irwindale Speedway with their first open-to-the-public test session on Thursday night, October 17.   

Being over 18, in possession of valid California driver's license and a very nominal 50 bucks will transform eager fans into the role of eager racing drivers, with all safety gear, and "pre-flight" training supplied by the school.  Believe it … Irwindale's fast 1/3-mile oval looks even bigger and faster from the driver's seat of a speedy little Legend Car.  Everyone, from "Rookies" who've never driven anything on any racetrack, to racing "retreads" who are just itching to get back behind the (removable) steering wheel of a real race car, is welcome.

At present these sessions will be scheduled for one Thursday night per month (under the Irwindale lights), but additional Thursdays could be added if demand requires.
