Three AAA Club Auto Insurers Ranked in J.D. Power and Associates Top 10 for Customer Satisfaction; Quality Service and Attention to Member Needs Key to AAA Ranking

ORLANDO, Fla.--Oct. 8, 2002--Quality service and attention to the needs of members were key to three AAA clubs being ranked among the nation's top 10 insurance companies for overall customer satisfaction in the J.D. Power and Associates 2002 National Auto Insurance Customer Satisfaction Study(SM), AAA said today. J.D. Power and Associates released the results of the satisfaction study Sept. 19.
"We believe the results of the prestigious study show that AAA is very attuned to members' needs when it comes to quality of service and competitive pricing," said Robert L. Darbelnet, AAA President and CEO.
For the first time, the survey evaluated regional AAA insurance operations as separate entities. As a result, the AAA insurance operations in Southern California, Northern California and Michigan rank among the top 10 in overall customer satisfaction. Fifty seven AAA clubs offer auto insurance to members.
The Auto Club of Southern California, which ranked second in the study, scored substantially higher than the industry average in overall customer satisfaction components in the J.D. Power and Associates study, including financial soundness, tailoring policies to meet customer needs, competitive pricing, value received for price paid and service.
Four of the companies ranked in the top 10 are not-for-profit corporations.
"AAA is proud of its mobility history because it is built on giving its 45 million members the freedom to go where they want safely, conveniently and economically. Whether it's in insurance, travel, publishing or automotive service, AAA's goal is to provide the best service and to offer the best products and services, ranging from auto insurance to mapping services to countless family vacations, at the best price to our members," Darbelnet said.
The 2002 National Auto insurance study is based on 15,619 responses from auto insurance policy holders residing in the United States.
As North America's largest motoring and leisure travel organization, AAA provides its more than 45 million members with travel, insurance, financial and automotive-related services. Since its founding in 1902, the not-for-profit, fully tax-paying AAA has been a leader and advocate for safety and security of all travelers.
