Continental Teves Celebrates 25 Years of Manufacturing Excellence In Culpeper, Virginia

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 8 -- Continental Teves, a unit of Continental AG, will mark the 25th anniversary of production at its manufacturing facility in Culpeper, Virginia, with a pair of celebrations during the week of October 7, 2002.

"We are proud of the work our employees do to help make our community what it is today, and want our celebrations to be a way of thanking the folks who live and work in this area for their support," said Geff Hoots, plant manager. "Not only is Continental Teves one of the largest employers in Culpeper County, but recently the State of Virginia certified our facility as an Exemplary Environmental Enterprise. This was a result of our fully- implemented environmental management system and pollution prevention programs, and is evidence of our ongoing commitment to be a good corporate citizen."

The Culpeper facility produces aluminum valve blocks and master cylinder housings. The valve blocks are supplied to Continental Teves' facility in Morganton, N.C., and installed in anti-lock brake systems (ABS); cylinder housings are shipped to Asheville, N.C., for use in the company's actuation and chassis products.

Continental Teves will host a pair of celebrations during the week. On Tuesday, October 8, senior management from the North American headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich., led by Bill Kozyra, president, Continental Teves North America, will travel to Culpeper for formal ceremonies. Joining them will be representatives of the Frankfurt, Germany management team, as well as local political and business leaders -- including Virginia State Senator, Edward Houck. At this ceremony, Continental Teves will recognize 19 employees who have been at the Culpeper facility since it opened 25 years ago.

On Saturday, October 12, Continental Teves will open the doors for a more family-oriented public celebration, complete with a food court and door prizes, and games and clowns for children. In addition, the Drive Safer America! mobile display and simulator will be on-hand to allow people to experience some of Continental Teves' advanced safety technologies, such as anti-lock brake systems and Electronic Stability Control.

"We expect between 800 and 1,000 people to the Saturday festivities," Hoots said. "In addition to the families of our 200+ employees, we hope to renew acquaintances with many of the people who have worked at our facility over the past 25 years, and thank them for their contributions to our success."
