Chase Montgomery, one of the hottest up-and-coming drivers in stock car racing, will be competing for top honors in the ARCA RE/MAX Series under the lights at Lowe's Motor Speedway on Thursday, October 5, beginning at 9:00 p.m.

Runs Strong at Lowe's

Montgomery has always had a strong showing at Lowe's Motor Speedway. In his first visit to the track in 2001, Montgomery started on the outside of Row 1 and finished sixth. When the RE/MAX Series returned earlier this season, Montgomery had to run his backup car after a crash during practice. The 18-year-old rookie started 37th on the grid and after the 60-lap race, finished seventh.

Outstanding First Full Season

Although it wasn't the exactly what he had hoped for, Montgomery was pleased with the outcome of the 2002 season. He earned the pole at Daytona, posted nine, top-10 and four, top-five finishes this season.

He was knocked out of contention for two victories this season, once at Winchester Speedway and last weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. Montgomery was second with 20 laps to go at Talladega when he was pushed into the wall by a car jumping the restart.

Second in 2002 ARCA Rookie of the Year

Montgomery will finish second in the ARCA Rookie of the Year championship. In only his first full season in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, Montgomery is sitting fourth in the overall driver points.

Strong Straight out of the Box; Montgomery Already Has Spot in Record Books

Earlier this season, Montgomery astounded the racing world when he qualified on the pole for the Discount Auto Parts 200 at Daytona International Speedway. At the age of 18, he became the youngest pole sitter in the history of "The World Center of Racing".
