CASCAR Confident Heading Into 2003
LONDON, ON – The 2002 CASCAR Super Series wrapped up at Delaware Speedway
this past weekend with the running of the Great Canadian Race Weekend. Over
13,000 fans attended the event to watch local favorite Steve Robblee win the
event, while Don Thomson Jr. managed to bring his Home Hardware Monte Carlo
home in 24th position – good enough to clinch his second straight CASCAR
Super Series Championship.
CASCAR is currently working out the details of its 2003 schedule. The
tentative schedule includes dates at Cayuga 2000 Speedway, Mosport,
Autodrome St. Eustache, Race City Motorsports Park, Kawartha Speedway, and
several other events are under consideration. Delaware will once again have
the traditional season opening race on May 16th, 17, and 18th, while the
second Delaware event will return to its traditional date on Labour Day
Weekend. CASCAR will announce the full schedule by the end of October.
“We are very pleased to say that many of our highest profile sponsors have
confirmed their commitment to CASCAR for the 2003 season”, reports Tony
Novotny, president of CASCAR. “CASCAR is Canada’s premier racing series, and
we look forward to continuing to provide excellent value to our corporate
partners in the years to come.”
Novotny said that CASCAR will be making announcements for each of the
returning sponsors on an individual basis over the coming weeks. He also
noted that many of CASCAR’s top race teams have also expressed their
commitment to compete in the 2003 championship.
In addition, CASCAR is currently in negotiations with several potential new
sponsors, as well as a contingent of exciting new marketing partners.
“CASCAR is committed to providing Canadian race fans with the most exciting
race product in Canada. Our objective for the 2003 season and beyond is to
deliver our product to a broader market base. We are committed to growing
CASCAR, and by doing that everyone wins, from the fans to the competitors to
the sponsors.”
Novotny stated that he is confident CASCAR will have many exciting new
announcements that will be made between now and the start of the 2003
season. With the recent elimination the Molson Indy events in Toronto and
Vancouver, the 2003 schedule will have a new look, with a focus on building
more value-added, event-based promotions into existing venues, such as the
very successful Speedfest area that was implemented at the Great Canadian
Race Weekend.
“Our marketing team has put forth a tremendous amount of effort towards
further strengthening our 2003 program, and at developing long term
promotional partnerships that will deliver terrific value to everyone
involved.” continued Novotny. “I have every confidence that they will
execute great new programs for 2003 and beyond.”
Novotny has meetings scheduled with race promoters across the country over
the next two weeks, and will announce the firm schedule at the conclusion of
these negotiations.
