TWO RACES, TWO TRIPLE CROWNS, AND TWO CHAMPIONSHIPS FACE 7 DRIVERS AT "THE BOWL"!

DeGraff, OH After 42 MidgetCar races and seven rain outs, much unfinished business remains on the table for seven of the best short track MidgetCar racers in the nation Saturday night at Shady Bowl Speedway. Two feature races (one rained out in July) will determine weather Muncie, Indiana's Aaron Pierce can claim championships in all three NAMARS MidgetCar divisions - the first "Triple Crown" of championships ever offered by the Indianapolis based sanctioning body. While the talented and articulate driver has already clinched both NAMARS Speedrome and National honors for the 2002 season, he will have to thwart a formidable challenge in both races from a young hotshoe who is no stranger to MidgetCar championships. Noblesville, Indiana's Billy Wease has won a MidgetCar championship for the last three years in a row, two in the Kenyon MidgetCar Series ('99 and 2000), and the 2001 NAMARS Speedrome MidgetCar Series - all prior to his sixteenth birthday! A birthday, which incidentally falls on this weekend's event. Billy's birthday wish? Have Pierce present a gift of not finishing sixteenth (ironically enough) or better in each race, thus awarding the NAMARS Regional MidgetCar Series title to the talented young driver. Pierce, with seven wins, 22 top-tens, and only 3 DNF's in forty races is not in the gift giving mood, however...

Wease will likely set one standard, however, that is if he can hold off Ryan Durst in the NAMARS Rookie of the Year chase, to become the youngest National MidgetCar Rookie of the Year in the sixty nine year history MidgetCar racing. This significant accomplishment should not surprise anyone, in that last year he already laid claim to being the youngest MidgetCar feature winner ever recorded!

The ARCA MidgetCar Series is co-sanctioning the Shady Bowl event, and will settle it's Driver points chase between Crawfordsville, Indiana's Sondi Eden and Ottowa, Michigan's Dave Baumgartner. Baumgartner has a commanding lead, but Eden, the '99 NAMARS Rookie of the Year, has a mathematical chance. Neither Driver has ever won a MidgetCar championship.

Brownsburg, Indiana's Bobby East will attempt to hold onto his lead in the NAMARS Pavement Triple Crown Series points chase over Teddy Beach for the second year in a row. Saturday's first feature race will settle the score for the 2002 Triple Crown Series, with twenty six Drivers scheduled to start the thirty lap event. Baumgartner, Eden, and Pierce are also in the running for the Pavement Triple Crown title.

Pit gates at one of the most breathtaking MidgetCar venues on the planet open at 3 pm, Spectator gates at 5pm, and racing at 7 pm local Ohio time on Saturday, October 5th. We'll see you at "The Bowl" for the season's last MidgetCar race in the Midwest.
