Hewland Gearbox Approved for Daytona Prototypes

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (October 3, 2002) -- Grand American Road Racing Association announced today that the Hewland NLTG gearbox has been approved for usage in the Daytona Prototypes, which will be the premier class of the Rolex Sports Car Series in 2003. English-based Hewland Engineering Limited produces the Hewland NLTG, which joins the RATEC 96T and 96S and EMCO Gears GA 46-P and GA 46-C on the list of approved Daytona Prototype gearboxes.

Mike Hewland, who is generally credited with inventing the modern racing gearbox, founded Hewland Engineering Limited in 1957. The company has supplied race car constructors from around the world ever since, and today is the only company in the world that supplies racing gearboxes to virtually all levels of the sport.
