Subaru of America, Inc. Announces Sales Results for
September; Total Sales Down Slightly From Last Year; Forester Sales Up 8

CHERRY HILL, N.J., Oct. 1, 2002 -- Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA), a pioneer of crossover all-wheel drive vehicles designed for the active lifestyle, announced today September sales of 14,064 units. The total represents a decrease of 1 percent from September 2001 sales.
The Legacy model line achieved a sales total of 6,234 units, an 11 percent decrease from last year, while Subaru Outback recorded sales of 4,178 units for the month. Subaru Forester recorded sales of 4,348 units, an 8 percent increase from September 2001. The Impreza line recorded sales of 3,067 units for the month, which includes WRX model sales of 1,837 units. Sales of the newly introduced Baja model began this month, with a total of 415 units for the month.
