Viasystems Group, Inc. Extends Voting Deadline for Restructuring Plan Solicitation; Voting Deadline Extended Until 2 p.m. Eastern Time Today

    ST. LOUIS--Oct. 1, 2002--Viasystems Group, Inc. (OTCBB:VSGI) today announced that it has extended the deadline for the solicitation of consents from creditors regarding its previously announced financial restructuring. The deadline has been extended from midnight Eastern time on September 30, 2002 until 2 p.m. Eastern time on October 1, 2002.
    Viasystems extended the deadline at the request of debtholders who encountered unexpected difficulties in transmitting ballots.
    As of 10 p.m. Eastern time on September 30, 2002, based upon the preliminary tabulation of the results of voting, the principal amounts of claims voted to accept the restructuring plan were as follows: Class 2A (Group Existing Credit Agreement Claims)--$543,605,137.59; Class 2B (Viasystems Existing Credit Agreement Claims)--$502,186,813.16; Class 4 (Viasystems Senior Note Claims and DTI Guaranty Claims)--$100,000,000.00; Class 5A (Group Subordinated Note Claims)--$144,732,500.00; Class 5B (Viasystems Subordinated Note Claims)--$151,112,500.00; Class 6A (Group General Unsecured Claims)-- $149,158.63.
    Ballots will continue to be accepted until the new deadline, following which Viasystems will announce the results of the solicitation.
