Jennerstown Speedway Prepares for Championship Series

Fayetteville, GA - The second stop for the five-race Championship Series for the USAR Hooters ProCup Series will be at Jennerstown Speedway Saturday, October 5th. The Championship Series moves from Winchester Speedway to Jennerstown for the Charlie Campbell Memorial Miller Lite 250. The second stop of the season-ending series to determine the 2002 USAR Hooters ProCup Series National Champion will feature over 50 drivers qualifying for 40 starting positions at the half-mile track.

Last season Southern Division driver Shane Huffman vaulted into the points lead after dominating the race leading 212 of 250 laps in the event. Huffman won the Sunoco Pole Award at Winchester Speedway two weeks ago and led the most laps before finishing third. Huffman enters Jennerstown tied with Jeff Agnew for the lead in the chase for the 2002 championship.

Last season Bobby Gill recorded his lowest finish in any race during the Championship Series at Jennerstown Speedway in ninth. Gill visited Jennerstown in July during a Northern Division race and recorded his second win in the division.

Gill suffered his first DNF in 50 races two weeks ago at Winchester when he suffered motor problems. Gill will look to make it two wins in a row when he returns to Jennerstown this weekend to overcome his first finish out of the top-five this season.

"We had a pretty good car at Jennerstown," said Gill. "It will be a little different next time with all of the Southern Division cars as well. We will just

have to focus on what we need to do to get the Triple Diamond Aviation Ford back to victory lane."

The three-time defending USAR Hooters ProCup Series champion entered the Championship Series as the top seed from the Southern Division and Brian Ross entered at the top for the Northern Division. Gill fell to sixth-place in the standings after his trouble and Ross was collected in an accident and finished 23rd at Winchester, which dropped him to third in the standings.

Mardy Lindley and Jeff Agnew have also recorded wins at Jennerstown Speedway this year and will also be ones to watch in the race. Agnew, the 1998 Hooters ProCup Series national champion, enters this weekend's race tied with Huffman for the points lead and is the only active driver in the Series to have two wins at Jennerstown Speedway.

"We have either ran great at Jennerstown or had trouble," said Agnew. "Obviously our team is pumped up and ready for Jennerstown after running well at Jennerstown and leading the points. We hope we can keep the momentum."

Twenty-six drivers have qualified for the Championship Series from the Northern Division joining 30 drivers from the Southern Division. The Charlie Campbell Memorial Miller Lite 250 will also host the season-ending Naturally Fresh Challenge Series race for the local Late Model cars at Jennerstown Speedway immediately following the Hooters ProCup Series race.
