AutoDocs - Cost Effective, Automated Crash Scene Investigation System

SILVER SPRING, Md.--Sept. 30, 2002--OPTIMUS Corporation, a leader in public safety technology, today announced that it has received a Notice of Allowance from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the patent of AutoDocs(TM) - which enables an efficient, low-cost, automated crash-scene measurement and documentation system for law enforcement, insurance investigators and other enforcement bodies.
OPTIMUS is now entering the final patent stage and anticipates formal issuance in the coming months. The patent, entitled "Device for Automatic Documentation of Crash Scenes," recognizes both the proprietary software that enables satellite-based measurement and documentation of a crash scene, as well as the methodology that enables the system to work over any mobile device.
"The formal recognition by the U.S. Patent and Trademark office of AutoDocs is the culmination of years of research and technology refinement that has made this product one of the best crash scene investigative tools available," stated Eric Adolphe, President and CEO of OPTIMUS Corporation. "AutoDocs empowers our nation's transportation safety specialists with the ability to more thoroughly analyze and understand accidents, ensuring safer travel routes, while reducing insurance carrier costs."
AutoDocs provides significant accuracy and speed over manual and laser-based systems for the on-site investigation of automobile, truck, bus, and rail accidents - enabling the investigation of incidents in minutes vs. hours. Using highly precise global positioning satellite (GPS) technology, AutoDocs will automatically generate a graphical representation of the scene that is accurate to less than one centimeter. AutoDocs makes more effective use of manpower resources because only one individual is required to operate the system. The investigator simply "points and clicks" important crash scene objects and AutoDocs automatically records the GPS measurements for each point, eliminating manual mistakes. Upon completion of the measurements, the processing software accurately draws the scene and generates a companion text-based accident report. The accident report and drawing can be provided to automobile owners on the scene, and wirelessly emailed to law enforcement agencies, insurance firms and crash scene investigation companies. The highly flexible system also can be easily deployed for similar uses by crime scene investigators.
