FINAL RESULTS-NHRA SUMMIT FINALS CECIL COUNTY DRAGWAY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NHRA SUMMIT RACING SERIES - NORTHEAST DIVISION FINALS
CECIL COUNTY DRAGWAY
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2001

Home track advantage pays off for Cecil County
RISING SUN, Md. - The NHRA Summit Racing Series Northeast Division Finals concluded at Cecil County Dragway on Saturday with champions being crowned in Super Pro, Heavy, Bike and Street eliminator. These wins place four more lucky drivers names on the roster for the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals, Nov. 7-10 in Pomona, Calif.
By virtue of victories at the NHRA Northeast Division Finals at Cecil County Dragway, Marques McClure, Mike Quartarone, John Snyder and Frank Cicerale have qualified themselves to compete in the "winner-takes-all" national championship finals in November.
"This is only my first year racing in Super Pro. I still can't believe I actually won," said Maple Grove's Marques McClure, a student from Pottstown, Pa. In the Super Pro final McClure defeated Bruce Stoltzfus of Newville, Pa., a representative from South Mountain Dragway.
In Heavy, it was an all Atco Raceway final when Mike Quartarone of Trenton, N.J., defeated Jeff Pasquariello of Totowa, N.J. While in Bike it was John Synder of Rio Grande, N.J., also racing out of the Atco camp, capturing the precious NHRA Northeast Division Summit Racing Bike crown when he took out Cecil County Dragway runner Danny Boyer of York, Pa.
In Street, Island Dragway's Frank Cicerale of Piscataway, N.J., found himself in victory lane at Cecil County for the second time since August, when he defeated last year's Street runner-up, Mike Petro-Roy of Waterbury, Conn.
"When I won my very first Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series race here in August in Super Comp I felt so overwhelmed. That was so awesome. You always come out here to win, but I never thought that I'd win here again. I'm so excited right now I can't even think," said Cicerale.
Taking home the coveted team championship was host track Cecil County Dragway. Over the course of the day Cecil County earned a total of 67 points to take the win. Finishing second was former champs Atco Raceway, with 65 points. The third place title went to Island Dragway, who earned 53 points overall. Taking home the honors for "team spirit" was Numidia Raceway, Numidia, Pa.
The four drivers who have qualified for the Summit National Championship in Pomona will each receive $3,500 when they arrive at the Southern California facility. They then will race against six other competitors for four event titles, with the winner in each category receiving an additional $5,000.
In other NHRA Summit Racing Series Northeast Division Series Finals event competition, the Luzerne County Community College High Challenge Championship was earned by South Mountain Dragway's Mike Wildson, of Seven Valley's, Pa. Wildson defeated, 75-80 Dragway runner, Gregory Jones, of Finksburg, Md. in the final
In the RBS Trailer Sales Race of Champions Tom Reyer of Hanover, Md., Ronnie Proctor, Jr., of Harpers Ferry, W. Va., Bob Larish of Duncannon, Pa., and Bill Kirpins, Jr., of Pittsfield, Mass., all emerged victorious in their respective categories.
