Dodge NASCAR Winston Cup Quotes from KC Speedway

BILL ELLIOTT (No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"That wasn't a bad lap. I'm just so proud of the guys and the way they've worked so hard this season. Hopefully we'll end up in the top 10 at the end of the day. We gave it our best shot today, and now we'll look forward to practice on Saturday and Sunday's race. You get a little older and you want it (championship) so bad. When you're younger, if it comes, it's fine. If it doesn't, you've got more time to try. Mark Martin has been close in the past, and he understands it. Jack Roush understands it. It'll be interesting to see what happens. I'm sure it's going to get real exciting."

STERLING MARLIN (No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"The guys worked real hard, and we picked up some time from practice. We tested this car in Kentucky, and it's a brand new car, but we think it'll race good on Sunday. It took us about an hour today to undo what we did at Kentucky. We went back to what we had last year, and we got a real good lap in. I think we'll be good in the Coors Light Dodge. It was a good lap for us. I figured we'd end up 10th or 12th. It's pretty close to race trim right now, and I think we're going to race pretty good with it. We need to get us a win here. Three races ago we had about a hundred point lead over Gordon. Things can change real quick with a bad race or two. Mark's got an 81-point lead over us right now. If he has a bad race, we're right back in it. We've got some good tracks coming up, and we'll race hard the rest of the season., With eight races left, all of them are going to be key now. We need to knock out a bunch of top fives and try to get us a couple of wins. I've been pretty banged up since Richmond, but I feel pretty good this week - better than I have. If you're a little off these days, you run 20th. Rusty, Gordon, a lot of guys have done it this year. We're just going to do the best we can do. That's all you can do. There's no use worrying about it. We'll just take our lumps and go on. I'd like to see Mark Martin win it if we can't. He's finished second a couple of times. He's been in the sport a lot of years. He's a class guy and hasn't got a lot of years left driving. I'd like to see him win it."

CASEY ATWOOD (No. 7 Sirius Satellite Radio Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"We're disappointed in that lap. It's a brand new car, and we've been fighting it all day. We've been working hard trying to get the car right. We're slowly getting better. The Sirius team needs to get a good finish. We've had a lot of bad luck, so hopefully this is the weekend to turn it around."

WARD BURTON (No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"We never quite fixed the problem we were working on. We'll just take it and start in the middle of the pack. We've started a lot further back than that. We'll just work hard on the car tomorrow and hopefully get it dialed in. Maybe nobody will wreck us Sunday and we'll finish the day where we're supposed to."

JEREMY MAYFIELD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"We had a good practice this morning and a good first lap. I was kinda going for it on my second lap and it bottomed out a little bit going into turn one. It wasn't worth it, so we stayed where we were. I feel real good about the race. We've got a pretty good starting spot, and I think we'll be good Sunday. I'm proud of the guys. We're working better together every week."

KYLE PETTY (No. 45 Sprint Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"We struggled getting in the corners since we got here. I'm giving up a ton of time getting into turn one, and we haven't fixed it yet."

KENNY WALLACE (No. 23 Hills Bros Coffee Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"We were horrible at the end of practice. They worked on the front springs and that was the problem. We're in the race, and we'll be coming at 'em on Sunday."

JOHN ANDRETTI (No. 43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"We made some changes for qualifying. I think we went a little bit too far. It was loose for qualifying. It's a good race car. It's a brand new car, and there was no use pushing it. If you've got a good car you can get to the front no matter where you start. It'll be like Chicago on Sunday. It's open to a two-groove race track, but if you can stay on the bottom that's the quickest way around."
