Saturday at HMS

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (September 26, 2002) The Hardeeville Motor Speedway will
feature more great racing action on its 1/3-mile high-banked oval this

The Lawnmower racing will feature the B.C. Championship Lawnmower Racing
Team headed up by Alan Elder of Gainesville, Ga. Some of the vehicles are
now equipped with asphalt racing slicks and wings that will allow them to
go in excess of 70 mph on the 1/3-mile high banked action track.

followed by the National Anthem at 7:05 p.m. General admission ticket
prices are $10.00 for adults; $6.00 for Juniors (ages 13-16), Seniors (55
and older) and Military (with proper I.D.); and children under 12 are free.

in SC) on Highway 17 or just ten miles north of Savannah on Highway 17. For

HMS Pit Notes:
- On Friday night, September 27th, Hargray presents the 2nd Annual Beach
Blast Boogie featuring the Headliners from 8:00 p.m. to midnight at the
Hardeeville Motor Speedway. Tickets may be purchased in advance for this
rain or shine event by calling 843-784-2211 or 843-784-HOPE. Advance prices
are $10.00 and tickets at the gate are $15.00. All proceeds benefit the
American Cancer Society.

- The 2nd Annual Legends Cars World Finals has been rescheduled for Friday
and Saturday nights, October 4th and 5th as part of NAPA Night at the
Races. Participants are still permitted to enter the 50-lap / $5,000 to win
event for $75.00. There will be an open practice day scheduled for
Thursday, October 3rd from 10:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m. for all divisions that
compete at the speedway. This will be a non-points race for the HMS Legends
Cars Track Championship.

- Track Points Update: As the track points titles wind down, there are some
very close battles and some not so close battles remaining.
1. O.C. Welch Ford-Lincoln-Mercury Late Models (Remaining Point Races:
September 28 and October 5): Three drivers still have a shot at becoming
the 2002 Late Model champion. Statesboro’s Shane Jenkins leads the way and
has the best shot to beat Walter Reardon and Tommy Porter, both from
Savannah, GA. If Jenkins completes one lap in the feature at the final two
point races, he will clinch the title.
2. Legends Cars (Remaining Point Races: September 28 and October 12): In
the Pro division, Kevin O’Brien from Burton, SC, has clinched the Pro
division championship. Jim Reyburn of Charleston, SC has clinched the
Masters division. This is the first track championships at HMS for both
O’Brien and Reyburn. A new Semi-Pro champion will also be crowned as the
battle at the top is a tie between Jimmy Lang of Bluffton, SC and Jonathan
Haidon of Hilton Head, SC. As predicted earlier this battle will most
likely come down to the last lap of the last points feature on October
12th. Andrew Smith of Savannah, GA and Billy Tysinger of Hardeeville, SC
cannot be counted out, but both leaders at the top must have some bad luck
in the final two races for Smith or Tysinger to have a shot at the title.
Darren Gordon of Hilton Head, SC still has a shot but his chances are very
slim as something extremely unusual would have to happen for him to take
the championship.
3. Xtreme Stock Cars (Remaining Point Races: September 28, October 5 and
October 12): With three races remaining, Don Dean of Sheldon, SC continues
to hold a 21 point advantage over last year’s champion Timmy Dasher of
Bluffton, SC. Dasher made up three points by beating Dean last Saturday
night, but Dasher needs more help than that to retain his reign as the
Xtreme Stock Car champion.
4. Mini Stocks (Remaining Point Races: September 28, October 5 and October
12): Steven Moore from St. George, SC continues to dominate the division,
but still has not been able to shake David Carr, Jr. from Martinez, GA.
Moore extended his lead to an 81-point advantage over Carr, but that is not
enough if he fails to make any of the final three races on the schedule.
Johnny Brown of Bluffton, SC is still mathematically in the points title
chase but could be eliminated this weekend.
5. Coastal Medical Associates Street Stocks (Remaining Point Races: October
5): With only one race remaining, three drivers can clinch the title in the
Street Stocks class. Glenn Mappus of Ridgeville, SC leads James Beckett of
Ridgeland, SC by 12 points. For Beckett to overtake Mappus, he must win the
race and Mappus must finish in 6th place or worse.

INCLEMENT WEATHER / CANCELLATION OF AN EVENT:
In the event of rain or other conditions, it may be necessary for the Race
Director/Promoter to adjust the order of the event schedule, length of
races, practices and qualifying sessions, or to stop the program
completely. Should this occur, the Race Director/Promoter shall make every
effort to resume the schedule in a timely fashion if conditions improve. It
is their sole discretion as to what decision they make and their decision
is final.

Rain Check Policy (Pits): Cancellation or delay of an event will be the
speedway management’s decision. No money will be refunded for tickets or
pit passes purchased. The armband with the appropriate numbers shall be
used as the rain check. In the event that an event is canceled, rain checks
will only be honored if all qualifying races for all divisions have not
been completed. All races completed will be scratched and will not be
rescheduled (EIRI special events). Rain checks for the pits will be honored
for one of the next two events of equal or lesser value. If the rain check
is used for an event of greater value, then the holder will be responsible
for making up the difference in value. If the event is rained out or
canceled after one feature race for any division has been completed, then
the remaining feature events will be run at a later announced date. This
date will probably be the next race event scheduled and the make-up
features will be first on the program (before any qualifying heats
scheduled for the regular event). Only cars qualified for the canceled
event will be eligible for the make-up feature. Rain checks will not be
issued for events when the make-up features are held.

One lap past the halfway point in a feature shall constitute a complete
race in the event a race is stopped due to bad weather. If a race is
stopped by use of the red flag and is ruled complete (no matter how many
laps are complete), the finishing positions will be paid according to the
last officially scored lap by the leader prior to the red flag.
