JEREMY MAYFIELD
NO. 19 DODGE DEALERS INTREPID R/T
KANSAS PREVIEW
RUNNING AT KANSAS
"I like Kansas. The last time I was there I had a little trouble but I liked the track. I'm anxious to get back there this time with the Dew Crew and see what we can do. We've been making gains on it each week now and I think we can keep that going at Kansas. The fans were incredible there last time. They are really hungry for racing in the Midwest, so it should be a good weekend for everyone."

KANSAS SPEEDWAY
"The track is a lot like Chicago and it's similar to Las Vegas too. We ran well at Las Vegas earlier this year. You have to have the total package to do well at a place like Kansas. You've got to run up front, you've got to stay out of trouble. It's a fast track so you need every little thing you can get."

NEXT DODGE COMMERCIAL
"We're flying out to California this week to film a new commercial for Dodge. I'm sure it will be as fun as the last one. That commercial ("Octane 93") has kind of taken off. Someone asked me the other day if I hear, "Hey Jer-e-my" a lot. I told him, "only about a thousand times a day." It's really been fun though. I know Dodge is pretty happy with it and I know the fans really like it. It's been great for me to be associated with that commercial. I think someone said it was on during the Monday Night Football game. That's pretty cool."

RACE NOTES
Jeremy Mayfield will be driving No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge that he raced at the first Loudon. It has been rebodied and tested at Kentucky.

STATS & FACTS
**For a complete 2002 race-by-race statistical report on Jeremy Mayfield, please see the attached document "JM bio.doc"**
 <<JM Bio.doc>>
*	This weekend's race marks Mayfield's 266th career start in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series and second visit to Kansas Speedway. In the inaugural Protection One 400 at Kansas, Mayfield qualified 38th and finished running in 36th place after spending much of the race behind the wall for repairs to his car.

*	For Mayfield, a solid performance last weekend at Dover demonstrated the continued improvements in his team. Mayfield qualified in the 11th spot and ran in the top-15 for the first half of the race. But his Dodge Intrepid R/T was plagued by handling problems, so the Dew Crew worked diligently throughout the race to improve the car's performance. Mayfield ended up 20th for the day, which moved him up one position in the NASCAR Winston Cup points battle to 26th. He is 15 points out of 25th place, 23 points out of 24th place and 262 points from 20th.

*	Mayfield's second-place run this year at Las Vegas was his best run at the track and his best overall finish since the 2000 Pennzoil 400 at Homestead-Miami where he finished second. The finish also qualified Mayfield for the Winston No Bull 5 $1 million bonus during the May race in Charlotte.

*	Coming into the 2002 season, Mayfield had 237 starts, with six poles (two at Talladega and one at Darlington, Dover, Rockingham, and Texas), three wins (two at Pocono and one at California), 33 top-fives and 58 top-10s. His most recent win came at Pocono in June of 2000.
