"The rear end cooler mount broke and it fell onto the pump. The rear end cooler cools the gear. It broke so the gear burnt. We changed the rear end cooler and gear and went back out. We were running pretty good and were only a lap down. I think we could have held on and ended up with a pretty decent finish, but that's the way it goes. We'll try again next week at Kansas City."

STERLING MARLIN (No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"We weren't real good all week. We were real tight on the start and then got loose and got lapped. We had about a 15th-place car. That's about all we had. We tried everything. The guys worked hard. That's all we could do. We had the wrong gear, the wrong springs, the wrong shocks, wrong car. We had the right beer, but other than that, we got stomped. I think Kansas coming up will be good for us. We always seem to struggle here at Dover. We either finish from fifth to 10th. We just missed it today. We were way off. We tested at Kentucky last week for Kansas, and I think we had a real good test, so maybe we can get back on track. There's no use to say much about the rules. It just falls on deaf ears when you talk to them. If you run 'em on the chassis dynos, the Fords have got 50 more horsepower than we've got. Chevrolet is right there with 'em. They've got better aero. We're the only car from last year that's had stuff taken away. Everybody else has got stuff. I ain't crying, but facts are facts. I'm really not complaining. I'm just explaining. We'll keep working and see (about winning the championship after leading for 25 straight weeks from Rockingham through Richmond.)."


BILL ELLIOTT  (No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"The car was OK at the beginning, but we just got behind and never could catch up. We just didn't have anything for anybody else. I have no ideas if the tires were a factor. We just got loose and went to the back. I don't know if the Dodges are at a disadvantage out there, but I sure didn't see any of them run very well."

KYLE PETTY (No. 45 Sprint Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"When you look at where we're at, we're still making progress with our engines and aero. My car pushed at the end of the race. We had a good day. Our guys made good calls in the pits. Steven Lane made good calls. The only time we made a bad call was when I told them to put a rubber in the right rear. You should never let a driver make a call. I don't care who they are. He wanted to raise the track bar, and I wanted the rubber in the right rear. He raised the track bar and that was good. When we put the rubber in the right rear, that was bad. The driver didn't make the right call on that one."

JEREMY MAYFIELD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"The car was tight all day. We tried to make small adjustments because it wasn't that bad and then the track tightened up. We couldn't seem to stay with it and it got real tight there for awhile. There at the end, we got it pretty good."

CASEY ATWOOD (No. 7 Sirius Satellite Radio Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"The Sirius team did everything we could today to finish the race. We had some bad luck yesterday when we got into some oil somebody put down on the track. That was our best car all season, so hopefully the guys will be able to rebuild it. We had to pull out our backup Dodge right at the end of practice. We tested it at Kentucky, but never raced it, so today was sort of like a first date. We got some good experience today and the guys did a great job making adjustments to it."

"I think it's pretty uneven right now. Two weeks in a row and we couldn't do any better than 15th. That's not very good. First of all what we need is to get back being the best Dodge again. The last two weeks we haven't had the best Dodge. Once we do that, then we've got to have some help because we're just at a disadvantage right now. We're not giving up on trying to win the championship. We're not out of it. We've got to be consistent and certainly run better than 21st. We've got to perform up to our potential, and we've got to have some help."
