McCumbee Tops in the Allison Legacy Cars at the HMS on Lowcountry Concrete
Night
HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (September 21, 2002) - The Allison Legacy Series made
their final of three 2002 appearances at the Hardeeville Motor Speedway on
Lowcountry Concrete Night with twin 50-lap feature events on Saturday.
Chad McCumbee from Supply, NC, picked up both feature events in the Allison
Legacy Cars Series.
In local racing action, fourteen-year old Andrew Smith of Pooler, GA bested
the field for his Legends Car to pick up the win over Billy Tysinger of
Hardeeville, SC and Jonathan Haidon from Hilton Head, SC. The nearly one
thousand race fans watching the action knew the Legend Cars would be
exciting as even the B-Main proved to have spills that would certainly
carry over into the A-Main Feature. Kevin O'Brien from Burton, SC picked
up the B-Main victory.
In Mini Stock action, Steven Moore of St. George, SC lapped the entire
filed and finished ahead of Bobby Duncan of Ludowici, GA and James Groover
of Bluffton, SC. Doug Butler of Hardeevile, SC crossed the finish line in
second but was disqualified during post race technical inspections. Tim
Dasher of Bluffton, SC beat Don Dean of Sheldon, SC by less than three car
lengths to win the Xtreme Stock Car feature with Summerville, SC native
David Taschner finishing third. The Coastal Medical Associates Street
Stocks were on hand as Hubert Into of Bloomingdale, GA blew by the rest of
the field for the win and Glenn Mappus of Ridgeville, SC finished just
ahead of Ridgeland, SC native Jim Beckett for second.
The Road Warriors returned with two exciting feature races as first time
racer Bryan Roach from Low Country Concrete finished in first ahead of
Chelsea Carr of Martinez, GA and Brandon Roach also from Low Country
Concrete. In the second Road Warrior feature, Daniel Brown from Low
Country Concrete came away victorious with Sport Lewis finishing second and
Chelsea Carr claiming third.
Next Saturday night, September 28th, the Hardeeville Motor Speedway will be
back in action with its 3rd annual Hargray Fan Appreciation Night featuring
the O.C. Welch Ford-Lincoln-Mercury Late Models, Legends Cars, Mini Stocks,
Xtreme Stock Cars and Road Warriors. The special attraction will be racing
