Road Scholar College Tour, A Total Driving Experience for College Students
ROCHESTER, Mich., Sept. 19 - Chrysler Group will help college students become more informed even when outside the classroom when the Road Scholar College Tour makes a stop next week on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester, Mich.
In addition to the opportunity to drive Chrysler Group cars and trucks, the Road Scholar College Tour provides students with information on road rage, drinking and driving, safe driving tips, what to pack for road trips, and what to do in case of an accident. The tour also educates them on the importance of protecting their credit during their student years.
The event will be held on Monday and Tuesday, September 23 and 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Oakland University is one of 37 college campuses across the country hosting the Road Scholar College Tour.
Students will have the opportunity to drive Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge vehicles on off-road and on-road courses with a qualified instructor on board, evaluating the vehicles in a way that is often not possible at a dealership.
"This program is in touch with the lifestyle and environment of today's students," said Lou Bitonti, Senior Manager, Brand Events. "It offers them a complete driving experience through interaction with Chrysler Group vehicles."
The event includes interactive lifestyle activities, such as the Chrysler PT Cruiser Fill the Trunk Game, the Jeep Scramble and the NASCAR Pitcrew Challenge. The Road Scholar Tour also offers students information on how to purchase a vehicle and obtain insurance, as well as provide details on the DaimlerChrysler Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle program. In addition, students can learn about less expensive alternatives to new cars through the company's New College Graduate Incentive program.
Giveaways abound, as does the opportunity to enter sweepstakes for a free vehicle lease, trips, and speaker sets. Tower Records, Lipton Iced Tea, Reebok and Coppertone will also be present, handing out samples and gifts to the students.
