BMW Automotive Supplier Lowers Cost With New IRMCO Tube Bending Gel

EVANSTON, Ill.--Sept. 18, 2002--BMW supplier Zeuna Staerker, a manufacturer of exhaust systems for Z3 and X5 automobiles has achieved measured improvement in their tube bending operation through the use of IRMCO GEL(R), an advanced oil free lubricant technology invented by Evanston based IRMCO.
Zeuna Starker switched to IRMCO GEL because it could improve forming, welding, cleaning-housekeeping, and disposal.
The IRMCO GEL can be applied in a thin film, which allows it to stay in place on the metal, performing exceptionally well in the mandrel bending operation. This also provides an improved surface condition for welding and assembly. MIG, TIG, and resistance welding techniques can be achieved without prior washing. Weld repairs and re-work due to lubricant residue are eliminated. In addition, the elimination of washing before weld provided a reduction in cycle time, thus increasing output. Because IRMCO GEL stays on the parts and removes with plain water from floors and equipment, workstation cleanliness has improved. Plant employees value the improved environment and feel more productive. Also, because the product cleans so easily, the parts washing process after welding is more efficient and effective. Cleaning chemicals perform better and lasted longer between system clean-outs. Washer disposal volume and cost are significantly reduced.

IRMCO is a privately held Evanston Illinois based advanced lubricant technology firm that specializes in the invention of metal forming, stamping, bending, and punching lubricants that improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce environmental cost and liability.
