New Bel Transformers for Employment in GlobespanVirata's Titanium G24 & Octane Chipsets
JERSEY CITY, N.J.--Sept. 18, 2002--Bel today announced the availability of two surface-mount transformers engineered to optimize the ADSL and G.SHDSL capabilities of GlobespanVirata's Titanium(TM) G24 and Octane chipsets, which support both standards on a single platform. In conjunction with Bel's S560-6600-HB magnetics, the chipsets are capable of delivering asymmetric data rates of up to 8 Mbps, and symmetric data rates of up to 4.6 Mpbs when coupled with Bel's S560-6600-HG module. These new Bel components satisfy telecom industry quality demands, complying with the requirements of UL1950 and EN60950 to provide a basic insulation barrier with a working voltage of 150 Vrms over traditional copper-based networks.
Engineered for CO/RT (Central Office/Remote Terminal), and MxU (Multi-Dwelling/Multi-Tenant Unit) markets, transformers are ideally suited for a wide range of miniature DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) equipment, as well as remote site DLC (Digital Loop Carrier) multi-port applications. Their space saving (0.390" L x 0.380" W x 0.500" H) EP7 package moreover enhances devices' desirability in high-density PC board applications, and maximizes OEMs' manufacturing and cost efficiencies. It is noteworthy that Bel's S560-6600-HG is the world's first G.SHDSL transformer engineered in this compact footprint.
Components boast excellent total harmonic distortion (THD) performance, insertion loss, return loss, and crosstalk performance to further enhance the capabilities of the Titanium G24 convergence platform. The Bel magnetics additionally feature an operating temperature range of -40 degrees to +85 degrees C, and 1500 Vrms safety isolation.
In quantities of 10,000, prices for the S560-6600-HB (ADSL) transformers are $0.99 each, while the S560-6600-HG (G.SHDSL) devices are sold at $1.13 each. Delivery is from stock to 4 weeks.
