October Begins Nationwide Focus on Vehicle Maintenance

CHERRY HILL, N.J., Sept. 18 -- Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA), a pioneer of crossover all-wheel drive vehicles designed for the active lifestyle driver, today announced its continued support of National Car Care Month, a nationwide effort by businesses, civic groups, government, the media and the Car Care Council focusing motorists' attention on the need to maintain and repair their cars. Starting in September and continuing through November, Subaru of America is working with its dealers to host free car care clinics for owners of Subaru vehicles.

"Car Care Month is an important opportunity for Subaru dealers to educate customers about the benefits of regular maintenance for their vehicles," said Ginny Newkirk, fixed operations advertising and communications manager, Subaru of America, Inc. "We encourage Subaru owners to come into our dealerships offering service clinics as part of Car Care Month. At these clinics, they will receive a free, no obligation professional diagnostic check-up of their vehicle's condition. The inspection includes a check-up of all major operating systems with a written report of the vehicle's condition."

According to the Car Care Council, 77% of all vehicles inspected during National Car Care Month in past clinics were found to be in need of repair or maintenance. Of those, 22% failed inspection due simply to low or dirty motor oil, while 18% of vehicles needed transmission repair.

Subaru owners should contact their local Subaru dealers for available clinic dates and times. Owners can contact 1-800-SUBARU-3 or visit http://www.subaru.com to locate a Subaru dealer in their area.
