Cummins Inc. to Retain Kuss Filtration Business

    COLUMBUS, Ind.--Sept. 17, 2002--Cummins Inc. announced today that it was unsuccessful in its search for a strategic buyer for Kuss Filtration and has decided to retain Kuss, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cummins Fleetguard. Given current market conditions and Kuss' track record of profitable growth, the Company will continue to operate the business.
    Kuss Filtration has been a leader in the development of filtration solutions for automotive, medical and consumer goods industries since 1949. Kuss is headquartered in Findlay, Ohio with a small operation in Quimper, France. It employs approximately 350 people.
