TMS GmbH Places $250,000 Order for Tecnomatix Manufacturing Process Management Solutions

    NASHUA, N.H.--Sept. 17, 2002--

World-leading Automotive Line Builder Expands its MPM Implementation to Enhance Production Control and Shorten Ramp-up Times

Tecnomatix Technologies, Ltd., the driving force in Manufacturing Process Management (MPM) solutions, announced today that TMS Produktionssysteme GmbH - one of the world's leading automotive line builders - has purchased licenses for Tecnomatix eMPower(TM) solutions valued at approximately US$250,000.
eMPower provides a collaborative environment that allows planners and engineers at multiple sites to collaboratively author, simulate and manage manufacturing processes as a single enterprise. eMPower enables smooth, quick entry into production by delivering optimized, mature processes to the shop floor with all the necessary knowledge of resources and tools, logistics, material flow and delivery capabilities.
TMS is a long-time customer of Tecnomatix, using such eMPower solutions as eM-Workplace and eM-Plant to manage its workstation layouts, material flow, resource utilization and line/plant planning. TMS will now implement eM-Planner, enabling collaborative MPM environments across lines, floors and plants.
"To meet our commitment to provide the highest quality products and services, and to stay competitive, we need to be able to react quickly to the needs of our customers," said Dr. Uli Spieth, head of the Body-in-White Automation Department at TMS. "With Tecnomatix eMPower and other implemented standards, we hope to improve project data management with advanced functionalities in data integration and data exchange to get the best possible transparency, data consistency and safety to fulfill the assembly requirements of new manufacturing initiatives. This will allow us to have better control over our planning, engineering and manufacturing processes and to achieve significantly faster product ramp-up."
In addition to eM-Planner, TMS has agreed to purchase licenses for eM-Assembler, eM-Plant and eM-Weld. These products, when implemented and integrated into the MPM environment, will further help TMS reduce manufacturing efforts and improve efficiencies. TMS will be able to generate a complete eBOP (electronic Bill of Processes) for each manufacturing product on its lines.
"TMS has recognized the value of tying together the formerly very disparate elements of manufacturing pre-planning," said Harel Beit-On, president and CEO of Tecnomatix Technologies, Ltd. "Working with Tecnomatix eMPower solutions, users will have a much more complete picture not only of the end product design, but of the most effective steps to take to make the design a reality. Our eMPower MPM solutions will give TMS the big picture it needs to stay competitive long into the future."
