SHANE LEWIS EARNS WIN AND THIRD IN DOUBLE PODIUM EFFORT

MONT-TREMBLANT, QUEBEC, Sunday, September 15, 2002 - Shane Lewis had planned
to be on a plane back to his Jupiter, Florida home this morning. However,
instead of standing in line at the airport, he stood on the Grand-American
Road Racing Series (Grand-Am) podium twice representing two different teams
in the 6 Heures du Circuit Mont-Tremblant. Lewis took the Grand-Sport II (GS
II) class victory in the #04 Istook/Aines Motorsport Group Audi S4 and drove
the #47 Zippo/ TF Racing Saleen Mustang SR to third in GTS-class after
leading much of the day in the car. Today’s race marked only Lewis’ second
Grand-Am start in 2002 and his first with either team. It was also his
second win of the season, the first coming at Phoenix International Raceway
in a Grand-Am Cup GS I event.

“Two cars, two podiums, one victory all in one race. Not bad, huh?” joked
Lewis after stepping from the GSII podium celebration. “Both the Zippo
Saleen Mustang and the Audi teams asked me to drive for them late last night
so I went from not planning to run this race to two great rides and two
great finishes. We led for quite awhile in the Zippo Saleen until we had a
problem but we still managed a podium. The TF Racing guys really worked
their tails off after a fire seriously damaged the Saleen yesterday. They
gave us a super car today. I really felt like we would have been able to win
in GTS too but, hopefully the third has helped Saleen’s points battle and
that was what they asked me to do.”

“The win in the Audi was just awesome! Awesome!” continued the enthusiastic
Lewis. “The S4 is a blast to drive. I came up here to drive in the Grand-Am
Cup race to help the Nonnamakers out and really had no intention of racing
today. I just can’t get over the fact that I expected to be at home watching
this thing on the Speed Channel and here I am with a win and a third-place
in two cars I had never sat in until the green flag. To go from no cars to
two in the same race is pretty exciting.”

Lewis drove to the GS II class win with Audi regulars Don Istook and Ted
Martin. He co-drove the Zippo Saleen Mustang with Michael Defontes and John
Kohler.

Shane Lewis has been racing since 1989. He is the 1998 Professional Sports
Car Rising Star award winner and has multiple race wins in IMSA, SCCA Pro
and Grand-Am sanctioned events. This former Daytona Endurance Champion has
driven in 16 24-hour races including two 24 Hours of Le Mans, six 24 Hours
of Daytona and six 12 Hours of Sebring. In 2002, he is competing as the lead
driver for the #43 Orison Marketing/ Planet Earth Corvette Z06 in the GS
I-class of the Grand-Am Cup Street Stock Series and is also racing in the
American Le Mans Series where he has earned multiple podiums and top-five
finishes.
