Eaton Expands Vickers Actuator Product Line With Mill-Type Cylinder Styles

    EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.--Sept. 13, 2002--Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation has expanded its line of Vickers brand actuator products with new mill-type cylinder styles.
    New Vickers Series AM/MM/WM mill-type cylinders meet three operating pressure classifications:

--	Series AM--Pneumatic applications up to 250 psi
--	Series MM--Hydraulic applications up to 2,000 psi
--	Series WM--Hydraulic applications up to 3,000 psi

    Non-Tie-Rod Design

    The non-tie-rod design of all three series makes the competitively priced cylinders ideal for heavy-duty applications in steel mills, foundries, aluminum rolling mills, and blast furnaces.
    Consistent with typical steel mill specifications for heavy duty cylinder applications, Series MM/WM hydraulic cylinders feature flanges that are attached to the body tube, resulting in superior strength and durability, coupled with easy field maintenance. Series AM cylinders are also offered with a split ring and groove design that secures the body flanges for heavy-duty pneumatic applications.

    Options Protect Cylinder Surfaces

    Specially designed for use in dirty, dusty environments that are the norm in steel mill applications, new robust Vickers Series AM/MM/WM cylinders are available with several options that protect cylinder surfaces, such as:

    -- Metallic rod scraper--This optional feature scrapes away dirt
    and dust from the piston rods to extend rod seal life.

    -- Steel pistons with wear bands or bronze overlay--This option
    protects cylinder bodies from side loads and incidental fluid
    contaminants.

    -- Hard chrome plated bores--For added wear resistance, plated
    cylinder bores are available upon request.

    -- Heavy plating--Extra thick hard chrome plate, chrome over
    nickel-plate, and various types of stainless steel rod
    materials are also available upon request.

    Eaton's new Vickers Series AM/MM/WM cylinders are available in standard bore sizes from 2 inches to 16 inches in several mounting styles.
