Miami Event Media Information
The following letter is from Leo Sarmiento, Public Relations Director for the Grand Prix Americas in Miami.
Dear member of the media,
We are now accepting media credential requests for the Grand Prix Americas,
held -October 4-6. All requests must be submitted in writing, on company
letterhead and signed by the assigning editor of the media outlet. The
letter must include the full names and function of those requesting the
credential, and should be mailed or faxed no later than September 19, 2002.

All media already accredited with a hard card from CART, ALMS or Trans-Am,
just need to send an email or fax to confirm your attendance to
Leo@miamirace.com.
Please note that only accredited photographers on assignment for recognized
news media will be permitted to photograph at Grand Prix Americas. All
photography is restricted to news use only. Freelance photographers
shooting without specific assignment will not be accredited.
We will advise you as to the status of your accreditation prior to the
event. Feel free to call the Grand Prix Americas offices to check on the
status.
Media credentials can be picked up at the Sheraton Biscayne Bay Hotel (495
Brickell Avenue). Details on exact rooms will be available shortly.
Registration will take place as follows: Thursday, October 3rd, 9:00 AM to
5:00 PM; Friday, October 4th, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM; Saturday, October 5th,
7:00 AM to 3:00 PM; Sunday, October 6th, 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
On race weekend, the media center will be located at Miami-Dade Community
College on NE 4th Street between Biscayne Blvd and NE 2nd Avenue - Building
3, in the Ben Chapman Conference Center (room 3210). The media center will
open beginning Thursday, October 3rd through Sunday October 6th. Media
center will open at 9:00 AM on Thursday and 7:00 AM Friday through Sunday
and will remain open to the time of the last journalist leaving.
Due to safety and insurance regulations, the following guidelines have been
established for media desiring access to the pit area beginning 30 minutes
prior to the start of the race:
 Shorts are not permitted
 Shirts (fully covered shoulders) must be worn
 Open-toed shoes are not permitted
 Smoking is not permitted in the pit/garage areas at any time
 Reporters will not permitted over the pit wall during events
 Photo access for race weekend will be explained in detail at the
mandatory photo meeting
 Fire-suits must be worn during the Cadillac American Le Mans
Challenge on Saturday
Friday, Saturday, Sunday morning photo meeting:
Both CART and ALMS will provide extensive on-site assistance to the working
media. All photographers must attend the photographers meeting taking place:
Friday and Sunday for CART and Friday and/or Saturday morning for ALMS.
These will be held in the media center. Following qualifying and selected
practice sessions, top drivers and newsmakers of the day will be available
in a designated interview area. Inquire at the media center for details.
For Saturday's ALMS race, all photographers that are accredited for Pit Row
must wear a fire-suit. The fire-suit will not be provided by Grand Prix
Americas or ALMS.
