Opticis Co, Ltd., the leading provider of optical extension cables and modules as well as transceivers, nearly quadruples the size of its facilities in South Korea to increase its production output and advance its quality management process from one location.
The relocation signifies Opticis' commitment to the market with development and production ramp up to meet customer demand.
By moving into a new facility, Opticis will occupy 11,112 square feet which is significantly larger than its existing space of 3,284 square feet. This will give the company additional space to produce transceivers and optical cables in greater volumes and provide flexibility in meeting customer requirements. In addition, space is allocated for the transfer of the Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) fabrication from its present site in central Korea. With the Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) and PIN Photo Diode (PIN-PD) fabrication process located with the transceiver and optical link assembly facility, device and packaging engineers will be able to work together more closely during development to maximize efficiency, reduce product cycle times and improve customer service and support.
"Opticis is moving forward with strategic steps to utilize our resources most efficiently and obtain the best results for our customers," said Dr. Hyun-Kuk Shin, CEO of Opticis. "The significant increase in the size of our facility will enable us to produce our VCSEL transceivers and optical extension links in volume which will accommodate growing customer demand."
Building upon this growth, Opticis recently began shipping its 2.5Gbps Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) LC type optical transceiver to customers worldwide. Based on VCSEL technology, Opticis' 850nm multi-mode VCSEL transceivers meet the high speed and low jitter requirements in short haul applications for Infiniband, Fibre Channel, and Gigabit Ethernet technologies.
