GM's Western Region Supports Christopher Nance Children's Foundation in Charity Golf Outing

LOS ANGELES -General Motors will be the title sponsor of the 7th Annual Christopher Nance Celebrity Golf Tournament taking place Monday, Sept. 16th at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena, California. The Christopher Nance Children's Foundation is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1996 by NBC-TV4 Los Angeles weatherman Christopher Nance. The organization supports children with life-threatening illnesses such as sickle cell disease, cancer, cystic fibrosis, multiple sclerosis and AIDS by enabling parents to stay at hospitals with their children.

The annual golf tournament is a star-studded event that hosts 300 golfers and attracts celebrities such as Smokey Robinson, Lou Rawls and many others. As the title sponsor, GM will help the foundation reach its 2002 funding goal of $175,000. The annual charity golf tournament is the foundation's single, biggest fundraising event.

"I can't say enough about General Motors and their desire to help," said Dan Selman, director of special events for the Christopher Nance Foundation. "In a day when corporate profits are paramount, they have opened their heart and given to support our foundation and its fundraising efforts. Because of their generosity, the kids are the winners."

The foundation also provides direct funding to researchers who are working to find cures to many critical diseases.
