Fariss wins In Marines Car at Lowes- Uh Rah

RON FARISS WINS DRP PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS RUN

CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA - Ron Fariss of Lynchburg, Virginia, overcame a 
two-race jinx to win the DRP Performance Products Run at Lowes Motor 
Speedway on Sunday, September 8.  Fariss, in the Marines Chevrolet Monte 
Carlo, set fastest time in Saturday's Stock Car Championship Series (SCCS) 
qualifying session and led flag-to-flag in the Sunday Late Model Stock Car 
road racing feature.

"I didn't sleep much last night wonder what would keep us from winning this 
race," Fariss said after winning his third race of the inaugural SCCS 
season.  "We knew going in that we were hurting a little bit on horsepower."

The hour-long race on the 2.25-mile track had two cautions and one red 
flag.  All three incidents took place in the transition area where the cars 
turn left from the tri-oval to the infield course.  The final caution led 
to a green-white-checkered flag finish with Jeff Werth chasing Fariss under 
the white flag.

"The last five minutes seemed to be an eternity," Fariss said.  "I was 
really concerned on that last restart.  I figured Jeff and I were equal on 
the infield.  The one place I was really vulnerable was turn one into the 
infield.  He got better on each restart and I had to drive somewhat 
defensively.  Whoever got through one was going to win it."

Fariss led into turn one on the final lap and Werth spun to the pitwall 
trying to out-brake the leader.  Chris Mitchum finish second.  Followed by 
John Goodson, Jeff Werth and Mark Gobble in third through fifth.
