NHRA Summit Racing Series - Friday from Renegade Raceways

BEST OF NORTHWEST FACE OFF FOR THE DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

Yakima, Wash. - Over 500 racers convened at Renegade Raceways for the NHRA Summit Racing Series Northwest Division Finals.  
 "This is a fun race and it's a great opportunity to race against some of the top guys in the division," said 2001 Super Pro Northwest Division Champion, John Shaffer.  
Competitors from 18 tracks will be racing for personal and team honors as event winners will be crowned in seven racing categories including Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Motorcycle/Snowmobile, High School, Jr. Dragster Lightning, and Jr. Dragster Thunder.  
	Gates open tomorrow at 7 a.m., with the second and final day of time trials scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.  Day two of racing will also feature the "Race of Champions", in which the top racers from each track will face off for the right to become the 2002 Division Six Champion in their respective class.
	Winners of this race in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, and Motorcycle/Snowmobile will then advance to compete in November against winners from NHRA's other six divisions at the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif.
	"Racing at Pomona was the thrill of a lifetime.  The thrill will never wear off," recollects Al Amond, who represented the division last year in Motorcycle at Pomona.  "It will be a dream come true to qualify for that race again."
