ORMSBY, CHESTERMAN LEAD INITIAL QUALIFYING AT TRI-STATE RACEWAY

        EARLVILLE, Iowa - In the first rounds of qualifying at the NHRA
Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series presented by Steel Mart of Dubuque and
Winnebago Industries at Tri-State Raceway, Top Alcohol Dragster driver Gary
Ormsby Jr. and Top Alcohol Funny Car pilot Cy Chesterman took the No. 1
qualifying positions in their classes. 
Ormsby, of Granite Bay, Calif., reset the track elapsed time record with
his 5.466-second, 247.38-mph pass.  And Chesterman's 5.819-second, 248.07
mph effort was enough to put the Sioux City, Iowa, resident in the top spot
in TAFC.
Top qualifiers in other classes were Robert Freeman of Oklahoma City, in
Comp Eliminator; Randall Klein of Lincoln, Neb., in Super Stock; and Bob
Shaw of Sedalia, Mo., in Stock.
        Racing continues Saturday at 8 a.m.  Gates at Tri-State Raceway
open at 7 a.m.  TAD and TAFC will have qualifying sessions at noon and 4
p.m.  Tickets, including pit pass, are $15 for adults and $5 for children
6-12.  Children under 6 are admitted free with a paid adult.  For more
