Baylor Trucking to Commemorate Sept. 11th; Pay Tribute to American Spirit
MILAN, Ind.--Sept. 4, 2002--As Sept. 11th draws near and the thoughts of America's citizens turn to the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the nation, Baylor Trucking will be observing a special memorial to include all of its employees across the country. "This is a very important day for all Americans. We want to reach out nationwide to show everyone, especially those families affected by the attacks that we will not falter or forget," says Cari Baylor, Baylor IT director. Baylor Trucking will suspend regular business for 15 minutes starting at 8:45 am including freight pickups and deliveries, customer appointments and telephone calls. "Our tribute, which will be observed at all Baylor locations remote and corporate, will include a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., the time the first of the twin towers was struck by the first hijacked airliner. Then at the flagpoles in front of each of our locations, we will recite the Pledge of Allegiance, have poems and prayers and a rendition of God Bless America."Founded in 1946, Baylor Trucking, a family-owned full-service dry van fleet, is also asking its drivers to wear red, white and blue in lieu of Baylor uniforms and to keep their headlights on from 12:01 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. that day to symbolize the light of the inextinguishable American Spirit. "All of us here want to show our American pride and pay our deepest respects to those lost on September 11th," says Baylor. "Our employees are going to dress in patriotic colors and many will be decorating their offices in red, white and blue as a symbolic gesture." Baylor will resume regular business at 9:00 am. "Service is crucial to us, of course, but we felt as American citizens that this short period of silence and remembrance was important for everyone."
