Nissan Division Reports August Sales Up 18.4%
GARDENA, Calif., Sept. 4 -- Led by record sales of the 2002 Altima and Xterra, Nissan Division reported today sales of 64,952 units for the month of August, an 18.4 percent increase versus August 2001.The award-winning Altima had its best August ever, with sales totaling 19,625 units, a 96.7 percent increase versus August 2001. Year-to-date Altima sales rose to 139,502 units, up 44.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
The all-new 2003 350Z, hit showroom floors in August and posted over 1,200 sales for the month. This new-generation Z Car(TM) offers users an ample supply of passion, performance, practicality and value.
Xterra had its best August ever, posting sales of 8,489 units for the month, an increase of 10.2 percent versus August of 2001. Total truck sales for August totaled 24,099 units, a 4.5 percent decline over August 2001.
Combined August sales for Nissan and Infiniti divisions totaled 73,403 units, a 19.8 percent increase versus August of last year.
Sales of Nissan's North American-produced vehicles for August totaled 48,858 units, which represents 84.4 percent of all Nissan vehicles sold in the United States.
