Lexus Makes History - Records Best-Ever Sales Month

TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 4 -- Lexus today reported the best-ever sales month in its history with 24,123 units sold. The luxury marque surpassed its previous record month, set in December 2001, by 12.0 percent. In addition to record-breaking monthly sales, Lexus calendar-year-to-date (CYTD) sales are up 7.9 percent, to 159,970.

"I've been saying that our sales are slightly north of awesome and the August results proved me right," said Denny Clements, Lexus group vice president and general manager. "It is a great time to be a customer, especially a Lexus customer."

The historic mark was supported by record-breaking Lexus passenger car sales, which posted an all-time best-ever month of 16,048 units, up 27.4 percent. The ES 300 sedan not only was the Lexus sales leader for August, it also enjoyed an all-time record month with 7,767 units sold, up 97.4 percent from August 2001.

In addition to record-breaking new vehicle sales, Lexus Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle (CPO) sales hit record highs last month, posting best-ever August sales of 2,897 units, up 3.0 percent. Total calendar year Lexus CPO sales have reached 26,611 units, an increase of 24.0 percent over the same period last year.
