No Sob Story For Saab - Sales up Nearly 17% Over 2001

NORCROSS, Ga., Sept. 4 Saab Cars USA reported August sales of 4,072 vehicles, bringing 2002 year-to-date sales to 28,386 units, compared to 24,340 for 2001. The iconic Saab 9-3 Convertible showed a strong performance with sales of 797 vehicles, up 40% over 570 units.

"We are very proud of our dealer network for their ability to move nearly half of the available inventory to prepare for the arrival of our new 9-3 Sport Sedan," said Dan Chasins, President of Saab Cars USA. "We exceeded our internal forecast and are on track to make this one of the best years in our sales history."

The new Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan will be available in U.S. dealerships in mid- October. This vehicle launch marks the first phase of the broadest product initiative in Saab Automobile's history, with a new vehicle introduction planned for each of the next four years.
