cDemo Uses Chrome's Data for Thorough Vehicle Inspections; Chrome Pulls Standard and Optional Equipment Information from Vehicle Identification Number--VIN

PORTLAND, Ore.--Sept. 4, 2002--Chrome Systems Corporation, provider of automotive data, configuration technology and commerce solutions announced today that cDemo, a leader in automotive inspection tools, will standardize their "Inspection Intelligence" tool with Chrome's data to enable more thorough vehicle inspections at landing lots, dealerships and auction houses.
cDemo's product enables users of a handheld tool to automatically pull up the Standard and Optional features on a vehicle by scanning the VIN. cDemo's technology application then integrates this information into a defined assessment process that directs the inspector around and through the automobile quickly, thoroughly and in a standardized manner. The electronic inspection software guides the inspector through the collection of the cosmetic and mechanical condition of the standard and available options on that specific vehicle.
By beginning with Chrome's accurate content as the main information source and creating a consistent inspection through cDemo's methodology, the product enables any user, regardless of skill level, to become an expert inspector on a variety of vehicles. This process enables an accurate assessment of the vehicle's condition.
"Chrome's accurate data is an essential element in standardizing the electronic inspection process. It becomes the starting point for any inspection and means that every part of the vehicle can be identified and inspected," said Wade Schulz, CTO for cDemo.
Clients can customize cDemo's inspection technology to match their current assessment process. This enables clients to integrate existing processes while ensuring that consistent, accurate information is being collected through each inspection. For example, while color codes pulled from Chrome's rich store of vehicle data may be an important element for a dealership's inspection, a daily rental landing lot may not need color codes as part of their inspection. They, instead, may want to make sure the standard features are correct and in working condition.
Once the vehicle has been inspected and photographs have been taken and integrated, the entire assessment information package including Chrome's data can be distributed to multiple electronic services for automatic posting or printed for immediate usage.
"Chrome enables automotive transactions with the best possible data to ensure a better system for the collection and transfer of used vehicle inventory," said David Mingle, President of Chrome Systems. "cDemo is a strong example of a solution that brings multiple processes together into a simple, accurate tool that benefits automotive retailers."
cDemo's "Inspection Intelligence" tools with the Chrome VIN scan feature are available immediately.
