“Givenchy, Audrey Hepburn and L’Interdit ...this is truly a marriage of icons and we are thrilled about this major launch for Fall 2002.”
Camille McDonald, President and CEO of Parfums Givenchy, Inc
WHAT: September 2002 marks the 50th anniversary of The House of Givenchy. In honor of this auspicious occasion comes the re-launch of Givenchy’s first fragrance, L’Interdit. This fragrance, created by Hubert de Givenchy, was his love letter to Audrey Hepburn. She helped create the fragrance and wore it exclusively until it was sold to the world and marketed with her image. Now, once again, Ms. Hepburn’s image will serve as the symbol for her fragrance. This reunion of Givenchy, Audrey Hepburn and L’Interdit brings together three of fashion’s greatest icons.
HISTORY: Hubert de Givenchy created the floral fragrance that was to become L’Interdit, exclusively for Audrey Hepburn with her full collaboration. Until 1957, she was the only one to wear the yet unnamed fragrance. It was later called L’Interdit because she playfully exclaimed, “Mais, c’est interdit!” (But it’s forbidden!) when Givenchy first suggested his desire to sell the fragrance commercially for all women to enjoy. Following her agreement, together they named the fragrance, and the once “forbidden” scent was shared with the women of the world.
The eau de toilette sprays will be presented in classic, clean-lined Givenchy bottles, with a new-brushed gold cap and polished gold collar. The outer packaging utilizes trademark L’Interdit red with classic Givenchy graphics.
THE VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS PACKAGE WILL INCLUDE:
· Interview with Sean Ferrer, Audrey Hepburn’s son
· June Weir, Professor, Parsons School of Design/NYU
· Kerry Diamond, Beauty Editor, Harpers Bazaar
· Campaign, b-roll / Manufacturing footage
