Motordrome Welcomes the Hooters ProCup Series
 

 

            Fayetteville, GA -            The USAR Hooters ProCup Series Northern Division will close out its regular season when the 3,300-pound stock cars make their first visit to Motordrome Speedway on Friday night September 6th for the running of the Naturally Fresh Foods 250. The track will be the last of four new stops on the schedule for the national touring series. Start time for the race will be 8 pm.

            Brian Ross has enjoyed a breakout rookie season in the Series with five wins so far in 2002 and a solid lead in the point standings to determine the top seed from the Hooters ProCup Series Northern Division in the season-ending Four Champions Championship Series. After Ross, positions two thru 10 could change several times before the end of the race.

            Jeff Agnew, the 1998 USAR Hooters ProCup Series National Champion and Rookie of the Year, has battled Mardy Lindley all season in the battle for second place.  Both drivers have visited victory lane twice this season with Lindley collecting wins at Jennerstown and Lonesome Pine while Agnew recorded back-to-back wins at Holland and Jennerstown.

            Jay Fogleman has been able to hold on to the fourth position in the points while Philip Rondeau has used a string of consistent finishes to remain in the top-five of the standings for most of the season and within 70 points or so of overtaking Fogleman. Canadian Jason McLellan and veteran Charlie Ford have see-sawed back and forth in the sixth position for the past three races with their final place in the top-10 likely to be determined at Motordrome.

            Glenn Gault, Roger Blackstock and Danny Sammons are only separated by eight points from eighth to tenth place in the standings and also will likely determine their final position in the standings after the race. 

            With nearby Jennerstown Speedway hosting four events in the Series this season, USAR Director of Series Operations Tony Cox looks for a successful event. The track was the last race added to the 2002 schedule and Cox feels the track is a perfect fit for the Series and its sponsors, competitors and fans.

            "We are very excited about the opportunity to bring the USAR Hooters ProCup Series to Motordrome Speedway," Cox added. "We are happy to get close to the Pittsburgh market not only for our fans but also our sister company Eastern Foods, Inc. who will be sponsoring the race through their Naturally Fresh brands. Plus we have a solid fan following from nearby Jennerstown so this gives our loyal fans in the area an extra race to enjoy this season."

            Jennerstown Speedway will also bring the Naturally Fresh Challenge Series Late Model cars to Motordrome for race #4 of the five race series held at Jennerstown Speedway and Motordrome, respectively.
