Hales Corners Speedway Results - 08/31/2002

    Franklin, Wis., Aug. 31--Scott Specht held off defending track champion 
Russ Scheffler in a furious duel to win the UMP late model feature on 
All-Glass Aquarium Night Saturday at the Hales Corners Speedway.
    Jim Zdroik placed third, with Rick Scheffler fourth and Chris Carlson 
fifth.
    Carlson paced the first lap of the 50-lap main event before surrendering 
the top spot to Specht.  Scheffler moved to second on lap 11 and spent the 
remainder of the event trying to find a way past Specht.  Specht weathered 
Scheffler's attack, however, and held on to take a popular victory.
    In the night's 20-lap sportsmen feature Eddie Lemay Jr. got around Dave 
Gorny on the final lap to pick up the win.  Gorny settled for second, with 
Don Scheffler third, Terry Thomas fourth and Don Sorce Jr. fifth.
