AmeriCredit to Build Customer Service Center in Chandler, Arizona; Construction Set to Begin

    FORT WORTH, Texas--Aug. 26, 2002--AmeriCredit Corp. today announced it will build a new, larger customer service center in Chandler, Ariz., to replace the company's existing center in Tempe, Ariz. Both locations are in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
    AmeriCredit will begin construction on the three-story, 150,000 square foot facility before the end of the month. The new center is scheduled to open in March 2003 with about 550 employees who will be transferred from the Tempe location. The center will have the capacity to eventually employ nearly 1,000 people.
    "We have enjoyed our relationship with the Greater Phoenix area, and we look forward to expanding that relationship in Chandler," said Cheryl Miller, president of Consumer Services at AmeriCredit. "As AmeriCredit continues to grow, we have to make sure we continue to have the capacity to take care of our customers. Unfortunately, we weren't able to expand either of the two buildings that make up our customer service center in Tempe, so we had to find a new location. We searched throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area to find a site that would best meet our long-term needs, and we felt Chandler offered what we were looking for."
