This was the second consecutive trip to the Canadian province for the USAR Hooters ProCup Series. Ross held on for second place while Jeff Agnew finished third. Jay Fogleman finished fourth and Kyle Shoemaker completed the top-five. Ontario native Jason McLellan finished sixth and Philip Rondeau followed in seventh. Jeff Oakley recovered from an early spin to finish eighth and Danny Sammons finished in ninth on just seven cylinders. Jimmy Burns completed the top-10. Lindley set a new track record winning the Sunoco Pole Award with a time of 20.748 (108.444 mph) and was joined on the front row by the defending champion of this race Agnew, who also eclipsed the previous qualifying record. Agnew quickly passed Lindley and led all but one of the first 81 laps of the race when he and Ross switched the lead on laps 45-46. Lindley assumed the top spot on lap 149 and led the next 10 laps when he pitted for fuel and tires under caution. Lindley took the lead on lap 216 and held on the rest of the way. "We actually missed the setup a little tonight," said Lindley. "We expected the track to free up a little and it got tighter as the night went on. This is a new car we brought out a couple of weeks ago and it has been flawless. Our win at Lonesome Pine two weeks ago was one of the easiest wins I have ever had and this was one of the most difficult but we will take it and get ready for Motordrome Speedway." The race was slowed 10 times by caution with only single car incidents slowing the race. Myron Haydt was the only car to make hard contact during the night when he slid into the turn two wall on lap 32. The final dash to the finish was set up when Shoemaker spun while running in the top five. Shoemaker was able to recover and finish fifth for his first career top-five finish in the Series. There were a total of six Canadian drivers who competed in the race. Among those joining Series regulars McLellan and John Gaunt was the current leader in the CASCAR point standings Dom Thomson, Jr. Thomson had a great run going until the rear end on his Ford went away on lap 109. "I had a really fun time running this car and we had a great car until the rear end developed problems," Thomson said. Ron Beauchamp, Dan Lawler and Glen Styres also made starts in front of their homeland fans. Although Ross didn't get the win, the Indiana driver won the Lucas Oil Products Halfway Leader Award and Miller Lite Rookie of the Race honors. Ross also led a total of 116 laps to collect the Southern Pride Lap Leader bonus. "We had a great car up until the end when my brakes went away and I held on for the second-place finish," Ross said. "We wanted to win here but we finished second and that keeps us in front on the points heading into the final regular season race." Justin Ely won the W.J. Plemons Investments Hard Charger of the Race Award advancing from 21st to 13th during the race. NOTES OF INTEREST a.. Lindley is the son of the late Butch Lindley. The elder Lindley was a well-known short track racer who died several years ago after sustaining a head injury during a short track race in Florida. b.. This was the fifth career win for Lindley. He won twice in 2000 and this win was his third of 2002. This was also his second consecutive win in the USAR Hooters ProCup Series Northern Division. Lindley won two weeks ago at Lonesome Pine Raceway. c..
