Clean Air Partners Receives CARB Verification for Catalytic Particulate Filter

SAN DIEGO--Aug. 26, 2002--Clean Air Partners (CAP), a leader in the development and commercialization of high-tech solutions to reduce engine emissions, now offers the only catalytic particulate filter for natural gas engines approved by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
This filter reduces CAP's Dual-Fuel(TM) engine particulate matter (PM) emissions to 0.006 grams per brake horsepower-hour (g/BHP-hr) -- 40 percent below the EPA's ultra-strict emission standards for 2007!
"CARB's aim is to make engines in California up to 10 times cleaner by the end of the decade, and we are making an important contribution towards that goal," explained Kevin Campbell, LEV sales manager of Clean Air Partners. "Not only do our solutions offer lower emissions than the requirements at this time, they are cost effective and can be added to existing engines or incorporated in new models well into the future," he added.
Unlike diesel engines with particulate filters, the CAP Dual-Fuel engines do not require ultra-low sulfur diesel. The CAP catalytic particulate filter also dramatically reduces emissions of aldehydes, non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHC) and carbon monoxide (CO). The Clean Air Partners' filter and Dual-Fuel technology achieve particulate emissions as low or lower than any natural gas engine. As such, the Clean Air Partners engines meet the requirements of South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Rule 1193 in that they offer an ultra-clean, cost effective solution for compliance with this rule.
Clean Air Partners was founded in 1991 to develop technologies that would allow diesel engines to operate with the low emission benefits of natural gas while retaining the power, efficiency, longevity and cost effectiveness of compression ignition engines. CAP offers time-proven products, which are based on its patented proprietary technologies. About 1,300 heavy-duty truck engines have been upgraded with Clean Air Partners' Dual-Fuel systems and products and are currently deployed in the United States, Mexico and various European countries. CAP's sub-components are used in low emission vehicles produced by some of the world's largest automotive and truck manufacturers. CAP is currently developing innovative low emission Electric Power Generation products for the distributed generation market.
