Oshkosh Truck Subsidiary, Pierce Manufacturing, Becomes First Fire Apparatus Manufacturer Certified to New ISO 9001:2000 Standard

OSHKOSH, Wis.--Aug. 22, 2002--Oshkosh Truck Corporation announced today that its subsidiary, Pierce Manufacturing Inc., is the first fire apparatus manufacturer to be certified to meet the newest ISO 9001:2000 standards.
Less than two percent of the nearly 40,000 companies currently certified by the International Organization for Standardization meet these new rigorous standards.
Pierce received notification of its ISO 9001:2000 Certificate of Compliance in May. It was awarded following periodic audits by ABS Quality Evaluations Inc. of Houston, Texas. Pierce is now certified through March of 2004.
"Ultimately, people depend on Pierce for premium quality," said John Randjelovic, Pierce's president. "All of our processes are focused on producing the best, most dependable fire trucks for firefighters and the communities they protect."
Pierce Manufacturing was the first single-source manufacturer of custom fire apparatus in North America to achieve ISO 9001 certification in 1998. ISO standards are the worldwide benchmark for quality, recognized in more than 90 countries.
