BMW Announces Sponsorship of LRP Vintage Festival


WOODCLIFF LAKE, NJ, JULY 23, 2002ŠBMW of North America today announced they
will be the presenting sponsor of the 20th Annual Lime Rock Park Vintage
Festival taking place Labor Day weekend, August 30 through September 2,
2002.

This year, the Vintage Festival begins a new era under the direction of
Steve Earle, the President of General Racing Ltd. and founder of the world
renowned Monterey Historic Automobile Races.  Joining Steve in the
management team with Skip Barber is Murray Smith, founder of the Rockefeller
Center Concours d¹Elegance and an important figure in sponsorship
development and event promotion.

Special events at this years¹ Vintage Festival will include a tribute to Sam
Posey on the 35th anniversary of his record setting accomplishment as the
first driver to break the one-minute mark at Lime Rock and a special Trans
Am Race commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the 1972 Lime Rock Trans Am
Race.  A full field of significant Trans-Am cars will take part with race
winner George Follmer as guest of honor.

The four-day celebration includes the Sunday Concours in the Park, a Vintage
& Historic Car Show with a special group of elite cars and several celebrity
judges, the popular Show of Shelby¹s and a collector car auction of
investment grade cars, all on Sunday, Sept 1.  Racing for 8 vintage groups
begins with practice on Friday, Saturday qualifiers and the Monday races.  A
weekend-long eclectic swap meet of automotive memorabilia will also be
featured.
