Cadillac Marks Centennial Birthday at the 52nd Concours d'Elegance

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif., Aug. 20 -- The worlds of design, entertainment and fashion joined forces Saturday night in an extravagant celebration of Cadillac's centennial birthday. Luxury industry leaders, Neiman Marcus and Bvlgari hosted this affair to remember at Pebble Beach's five-star resort, Carmel Valley Ranch. In keeping with the spirit of Cadillac, the evening epitomized elegance and sophistication. The exclusive well-wishers experienced exquisite food, Dom Perignon, and entertainment throughout the evening. Celebrity guests included Mia Maestro, Jacqueline Bisset, Dennis Hopper, Roger Corman, Michelle Lintel, Miguel Ferrer, Leilani Sarrelle, Kathleen McClellan, Randy Quaid, Xelinda Yancy, and Mace Neufeld.

Hollywood's newest darling, chef Ludovic Lefebvre, perfectly paired three vintages of Dom Perignon to complement his five-course French infusion masterpiece. Benny Golson, world-renowned composer and jazz saxophonist, en route from Italy, made a rare performance on behalf of the guest of honor.

The "Night of Luxury" unveiled the Neiman Marcus Edition Cadillac XLR available exclusively in the 2002 Neiman Marcus Christmas catalog. Never one to be upstaged, Bvlgari debuted its limited edition XLR inspired timepieces. Cadillac chose this year's event, coined the "Oscars of the car shows," to embrace the founding principles of the Concours d'Elegance -- the fusion of the worlds of fashion, entertainment and automotive design.

American visionary and legend, Robert Lutz, Vice Chairman of General Motors, along with fashion powerhouses Nicola Bulgari, Vice Chairman of Bvlgari, and Karen Katz, President and CEO of Neiman Marcus Direct were also on hand to pay tribute to the great American Icon -- Cadillac.

The Concours d'Elegance, dating back to the early 1920's, originated in the French Riviera and literally means an "elegance competition" in which not only the elegance and craftsmanship of the art of automobiles is made into a competition, but also the fashions of the great houses of haute couture. The competition found its way oversees in 1950 and appropriately landed at Pebble Beach, a breathtaking backdrop to a one of a kind spectacle.
