American Tire Distributors Launches Special Michelin Incentive for New Harmony Tire; Bose Premiums Available to Dealers
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Aug. 19, 2002--American Tire Distributors announced today a special incentive to support the new Harmony tire from Michelin.The incentive, which lasts from Sept. 1 through Oct. 25, provides the following dealer benefits (limit: one gift per location):

| -- | For dealers who purchase 400 Harmony tires: one Bose radio with remote. |
| -- | For dealers who purchase 150 Harmony tires: one pair of Bose 161 indoor speakers. |
American Tire Distributors, formerly Heafner Tire Group, will also offer members of its HeafNet(R) Rewards program double points for Harmony sales during the promotional period. More than 2,500 dealers nationwide participate in HeafNet(R) Rewards, an incentive program that is part of HeafNet(R), American Tire Distributors' extensive e-service package to independent tire dealers.
In a related promotion that runs from Aug. 25 through Oct. 5, Michelin will offer consumers a Samsonite Carry-On Suitcase and Michelin Road Atlas (total retail value of more than $120) with the purchase of any four Michelin light truck or passenger tires. American Tire Distributors is further supporting this promotion by offering double HeafNet(R) Rewards on all Michelin tire sales in August and September.
The Michelin Harmony is an 80,000-mile tire for sedans and minivans that combines the benefits of Michelin's RainForce MX4 and XH4 into a single line. The tire provides long tread life, ride comfort, and superb wet and snow handling through four circumferential, see-through grooves to channel water out of the footprint area. Harmony tires are available in sizes 13-16 inches.
