TEAM TARGET FINISHES 34th AT MICHIGAN
Spencer drops to 27th place in NASCAR Winston Cup championship points

BROOKLYN, Mich. (August 18, 2002) - The No. 41 Target Dodge Intrepid R/T
driven by Jimmy Spencer finished in 34th place in the Pepsi 400 at Michigan
International Speedway. Spencer drops to 27th position in NASCAR Winston
Cup championship points; he is 21 points behind Bobby Hamilton who is
currently in 26th position.

The No. 41 Target Dodge started the 200-lap event at Michigan in 34th
position. Within the first ten laps, Spencer radioed in to crew chief Doug
Randolph that the car was loose and felt like it had no grip on the track.
Team Target adjusted on the car throughout the day but could not get it to
the drivers liking. Fast pit stops moved the Target Dodge up in the field
on restarts but Spencer raced close to 30th position throughout most of the
day. The fastest four-tire pit stop from Team Target came on lap 165 and
was scored at 13.782 seconds. At the end of the day, the team took the
checkered flag one lap down in 34th position.

"We had a rough day in Michigan," Spencer said following the race. "We just
couldn't get any grip in the corners. It was a disappointing weekend so
we're going to kick it up a notch next weekend in Bristol. I love racing at
that track and we should have had the win last time. Team Target will be on
their game there.'

Dale Jarrett, driver of the No. 88 UPS Ford, won the Pepsi 400. Next on the
schedule for the No. 41 Target team is the Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor
Speedway on August 24, 2002.
