wet practice
Alex Job Racing set the fastest GT times during opening-day practice for the
American Le Mans Series race at Mosport International Raceway, in a session
shortened by heavy thunderstorms. Lucas Luhr was fastest with a time of one
minute, 21.540 seconds in the No. 23 McKenna Xybernaut Porsche. Timo
Bernhard was second in GT in the No. 22 Porsche (1:21.920). Luhr and Sascha
Maassen will co-drive the No. 23 Porsche in Sunday's race and Jörg
Bergmeister will share the No. 22 car with Bernhard.
"I think I know what we need to do here - be quick, stay on the road and be
first at the flag - but it's not so easy," Maassen said. "This track is
really hard and the weather circumstances are very often difficult. Today,
we had the same problem. I didn't get to drive, so I can't tell you if the
car is good or very good!"
Bernhard noted a different approach is needed on the 2.459-mile road course,
after two street races. "We had two street circuits in a row, which was
completely different driving and now we have to adapt again to a fast track,"
he said. "Today I didn't risk very much. I just wanted to work on the setup
because we tried some different setups and tire compounds. I'm quite
optimistic for this race because last race we nearly won. I really want to
win this race, so maybe we'll have a bit of luck."
to the top
Alex Job Racing is aiming for a clean sweep this season, with sights set on
the ALMS GT driver, team and manufacturer championships. Although some teams
play it safe, Lucas Luhr says the best route to a championship is through
race wins.
"Most important is to win every race," he said. "If you win every race, you
win the championship! It's not easy to win every race, but if you win every
race or most of the races, the championship comes by itself. It takes a
perfect car, a perfect team, perfect pit stops; everything has to be perfect
- and you have to have a bit of luck, as well."
